Job Summary
The Student Services Specialist assists the Instructional Services Manager and Community Development team with planning, processing, and coordinating educational opportunities. The position also provides student services program support, advisement, and information resource referrals.
Essential Functions
45% - Assists with planning, coordination, processing, and implementation of student service programs, including student advisement, financial assistance, internship, mentoring, or other enrichment programs; Acts as an initial primary point of contact for students and responds to student inquiries via in-person, phone, or electronically for information regarding enrollment, registration, admissions, financial aid, tuition, scholarships, internships, grants, testing, new student orientation, graduation, and other program information; Works with program management to identify and implement retention strategies and student success opportunities; Assists with identifying resources needed to address students' circumstances and potential barriers; Assesses and identifies students' needs, refers more complicated cases to the next level of student services, and maintains a cohort of students for advising purposes.
45% - Provides information and technical assistance regarding program guidelines and applicable laws, policies, rules, and regulations; Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures; Assists with student persistence and completion efforts of partnered Student Services team(s); Researches and maintains program outreach information; Maintains and updates program materials and student communication tools.; Maintains records and monitors and tracks students' performance and progress; Prepares, designs, and maintains correspondence, reports, presentations, program materials, and reporting systems.
10% - Collects payments, assists with payment plan services, and performs receipt reconciliation, as assigned; Monitors program budget and expenditures and researches grant funding opportunities; Plans and coordinates special events; Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, customer service, or related student development programs.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
A. One (1) or more years experience of full time student services or college teaching or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid or related student development programs.
B. Experience with case management in a high volume in person and virtual environment
C. Experience with data entry, tracking, and analysis
D. Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other technology applications in a professional setting
Special Working Conditions
Work Schedule will vary. Will require evening hours (4X10 schedule, Mon - Thurs). May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time viewing a computer monitor. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
