Essential Functions
Facilitates teaching, revising, and developing courses in online, hybrid, face-to-face, and other modalities available to ensure student access and success.
Assesses student performance and creates/maintains all appropriate scholastic records in a timely manner.
Provides leadership through engagement in student success activities and participates actively in investigating, developing, and integrating new and emerging technologies, coursework, and teaching methodologies into a curriculum designed to instruct a diverse student population using traditional and distance learning delivery systems that respond to potential markets.
Evaluates student performance through exams, projects, and presentations to ensure they meet learning outcomes.
Regularly assess the effectiveness of the curriculum and make adjustments based on student feedback and performance data. Implement teaching strategies that support diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
Participates in partnerships with community and universities (e.g. Estrella Mountain Community College Business Institute Advisory Board, Business Institute Student Orientation, Chamber of Commerce, etc.).
Maintains office hours and participates in program, division, college, and district committees and projects.
Teaches a minimum of 4-5 classes per semester, this individual will be expected to: help expand the accounting curriculum, and complete a New Faculty Development Course
Completes the Springboard to Success training within the first semester post-hire.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught
OR
Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor’s degree or higher
OR
A Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field
OR
A Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field
OR
A Master’s degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field
Desired Qualifications
1. Master's degree in accounting, granted by a regionally accredited College or University
2. Five (5) years of recent teaching experience in accounting at a community college or university,
working with under-represented and diverse student populations
3. Recent experience in developing and teaching ground, hybrid, and online business courses
4. Five (5) years of accounting or industry experience in a combination of any of the following areas:
Accounting or Taxation
5. Experience in and/or coursework completed in Qualitative/Quantitative Methods and/or Business Statistics
6. Experience in program development and administration
7. Experience working with student clubs/organizations
Special Working Conditions
May be required to teach evening and weekend classes.
