Job Summary
Maricopa Community Colleges, one of the largest community college systems in the nation, is seeking a talented Social Media Content Creator to join the District Marketing and Communications team. If you thrive on creating short-form content, enjoy following viral trends, and have a passion for all things social media, this role is for you. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, innovative thinker who uses their creator mentality to balance strategy with creating on the fly—experimenting with new ideas, series, and content formats. This position will manage the District’s social media platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube—tailoring content for each channel and focusing on digital storytelling, increasing engagement, and above all fostering community to expand reach across digital spaces. In this role, you will use your passion for audiences and insights to produce captivating content that drives brand awareness, strengthens brand loyalty, and creates meaningful connections.
Essential Functions
45% – Content Creation
Develops and creates high-quality, visually engaging, and brand-aligned content (photo, short-form video, graphics, and written copy) for social media platforms.
Utilizes creative storytelling to highlight programs, student testimonials, news, and MCCCD brand values. Captures vertical-style videos and other dynamic content ensuring content is platform-appropriate.
Creates detailed social media kits for PR marketing teams to ensure consistent brand messaging.
Attends campus and system events to capture social media content and post in real time.
25% – Strategy and Engagement
Participates in regular brainstorming, development, and implementation of organic social media strategy, creating content that sparks engagement and helps grow an online audience.
Assists with planning and maintaining a content calendar aligned with brand initiatives, news, and cultural observances.
Actively engages with followers, responds to comments and messages in a timely manner, and nurtures online community.
Monitors public sentiment toward the MCCCD brand. Engages and responds to community posts on social media.
20% – Reporting and Analytics
Monitors and analyzes key performance metrics and social media insights to refine strategies and optimize content.
Provides weekly / monthly reports to the marketing team on social media performance, recommending actionable insights.
10% – Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and four (4) full time equivalent years of advanced journey level experience in developing, planning and implementing public relations and marketing activities, projects, and campaigns.
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Special Working Conditions
This role will be required to attend and cover off-site District and College activities and events, some of which may occur outside of regular business hours and at college campuses located throughout the Valley.
