About the Position
The Employee Health and Wellness Coach provides comprehensive health, fitness, and wellness programs and training to employees of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO). This position assesses health and wellness educational needs in order to promote, maintain and improve health through effective education and promotion programs. The role evaluates, designs, develops, implements, and delivers health and wellness programs intended to enhance employee wellbeing and performance, reduce occupational injury and illness, and improve workplace morale and employee engagement.

Position Qualifications

Education
- Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Education, Communications, Physical Education, or a related field.
Experience
Two (2) years of coordinating and administering Public Health programs with a focus on community engagement with diverse populations.Combined education and experience qualifications

Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates health, fitness, wellness, and peer support education programs designed to increase overall employee awareness related to optimal physical and mental wellbeing.Conducts analyses to identify levels of need through evaluation of statistics or workforce data and in consultation with a variety of stakeholders.Determines priorities for addressing workforce physical and mental wellbeing needs, by applying peer support and health education methods, which may include applying a variety of procedures and by collaborating with targeted employee groups.Recommends methods to address physical and mental health education needs by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to identify opportunities for health education intervention.Prepares and maintains records; reports on education efforts, program changes, participation, and employee successes / challenges.Maintains knowledge of County employee physical and mental healthcare programs as well as community health programs and resources within the greater Maricopa County geographical area.Provides physical and mental health education programs tailored to meet the needs of diverse groups of detention, sworn, and civilian employees.Coordinates and partners with the County Human Resources Employee Benefits, other agencies, organizations, and groups to access and develop existing employee wellbeing education resources.Assists in the development of goals and objectives for peer support and wellness programs; serves as a Wellness Champion for MCSO.Prepares and maintains current written materials for distribution to or access by the MCSO workforce.Coordinates employee wellbeing education program activities with those of other County departments or outside agencies and organizations.Implements safe and effective employee wellbeing programs ensuring diversity and appropriateness to individual needs.Provides and / or assists with classroom instruction in employee wellbeing matters such as proper exercise techniques, use of equipment to prevent injuries, safety measures, aerobics, stretching, heart and blood pressure monitoring, nutrition, and weight management; provides general wellness exercise and conditioning enhancement programming.Counsels' individuals and groups on the importance of employee wellbeing and how to adapt fitness and wellness strategies to everyday life.Participates and contributes to department performance improvement initiatives and employee engagement activities.Links MCSO employees to internal and external opportunities for physical and mental health resources.Develops strategies for program communications, utilization, procedures, and requirements.Identifies and develops methodologies to effectively promote employee wellbeing.Responds to inquiries and requests for consultations, training, and peer support.Performs other related duties as assigned.Working Conditions
