About the Position
The Facility Automation Specialist develops, monitors, evaluates, and improves operations and maintenance programs in one or more of the following specializations : Facilities Automation Systems, HVAC, and Life Safety and Security.

As the landlord for all facilities owned by Maricopa County, the Facilities Management Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of more than 200 facilities comprised of over 10 million square feet. Facilities Management is made up of a collaborative team that provides and performs various functions to meet the facility-related needs of all Maricopa County Departments. Our broad range of services includes various aspects of the ongoing operations and maintenance of all County-owned facilities, management of all facility projects, and in-house design services.

Position is subject to atmospheric conditions : Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilationThe job is performed under some temperature extremes, hot / humid conditions, confined areas, high noise levels, dim lighting, dust or smoke, potential contagious diseases, and traumatic subject matter. Exposure to various forms of hazardous energy sources relating but not limited to mechanical and electrical systems. These duties require lifting / deadlifting (floor to waist) of up to 50 pounds. Must be able to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, and step stools in the execution of duties. Requires bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and squatting in all indoor and outdoor environments. Must be capable of using various forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to fulfill the requirements of the position. Special working environments include but are not limited to adult & juvenile detention facilities, medical facilities in both detention and public health, forensics, courts, and related justice facilities.
