About the Position
This position supervises the Business Personal Property team to ensure accurate and timely appraisals / audits. It ensures compliance with all statutory requirements related to the audit / business personal property appraisal processes. The position also provides daily supervision of the auditor appraisal and support staff who are responsible for researching financial records.

We Require
Three years of accounting, finance, audit or real and personal property appraisal experienceBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, a business-related field, or a degree in property appraisal or real estate.A combination of post-secondary education and / or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year-per-year basis.Other Requirement
Must attain the DOR Level I and DOR Level II certifications within 24 months of hire or promotion.

Responsible for overseeing that the department meets all statutory requirements pertaining to timely and accurate business personal property reporting and audits by supervising the appraisal team, assigning work, settings deadlines, and monitoring results achieved; may work with an external audit vendor to set projects and oversee timely completion and compliance.Confirms that the quality of both business personal property audits and appraisals are met by reviewing the work of staff and audit findings; providing guidance and technical advice to audit personnel in the application of statutory provisions, guidelines, appraising and accounting / auditing standards, in compliance with statutes and policies, developing and documenting processes and procedures, reviewing business personal property and audit projects and reports to maintain consistency and quality desired.Ensures a motivated and capable staff of auditors / appraisers and a positive work environment by working with staff members on a comprehensive work plan and participating in that work plan, answering staff question and providing expertise and guidance on complex issues. Supervisory duties include; conducting performance evaluations, training, coaching, counseling staff, dealing with performance issues, determining work priorities, participating in strategic planning, and scheduling and ensuring training / certifications are maintained.Provides an annual audit plan by developing individual audit programs under the general supervision of the department manager, tracking the progress of audits, providing technical assistance to auditors in compiling, drafting, and completing audits and audit reports.Delivers prompt and effective customer service by overseeing staff in their customer service activities, may participate in settlements of audit and negotiated settlements of litigation issues, also, may defend property valuations, presenting testimony and evidence at various levels of appeal and litigation.Guarantees transparency by communicating regularly with Assessor leadership on matters of significance especially regarding business personal property audits and findings, overseeing the preparation and effective delivery of audit reports, keeping internal stakeholders informed and working with them during internal reviews and dissemination of findings, informing audit staff of leadership priorities and directives in a timely manner.Working Conditions
