About the Position
The Intergovernmental Coordinator provides an exciting opportunity to show off your interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills!
As the Intergovernmental Coordinator, you will work closely with Maricopa County Department Of Transportation (MCDOT) professionals, federal, state, regional, and / or local jurisdictions, and other agencies / organizations to coordinate program and related activities, develop intergovernmental agreements, negotiate agreement terms, and perform a variety of policy-related tasks.
- This position is eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period.

We Require
One year of experience working in government affairs and / or public relations
Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, government relations, business, planning, or a closely related field
A combination of related experience and post-secondary education may be substituted on a year-per-year basis
We Also Value
Experience working with federal-aid programs and proposed legislation
Experience working with government and elected officials at the local, state and federal level
Job Contributions
Ensure partnership compliance with Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) requirements and the Board of Supervisors' approval process, and build / maintain strong intergovernmental relationships / partnerships demonstrating political sensitivity
Coordinate and develop IGAs with MCDOT Project Managers and negotiate agreement terms with outside agencies and municipalities supporting the MCDOT Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and other projects
Cross-trains to support other Intergovernmental Relations Branch programs including Transportation Advisory Board, Legislative Affairs, Federal Aid, Title VI Compliance, Intergovernmental Agreements, Policies and procedures, and SOPs as needed
Exercise independent judgment serving as MCDOT liaison to federal, state,
regional and / or local communities and private partners to monitor transportation projects and issues
Ensure county and partner compliance with federal, state, regional, and county
requirements
Customer Service - Represent MCDOT at SCHOA & PORA community meetings - follow up on resident issues and requests
Carry out special projects in support of the TIP and other MCDOT programs
Working Conditions
Work is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
Occasional travel to local cities and towns may be required
Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
Must possess or can obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license
Hybrid schedule available after training period
