Position Description: Food Service Custodian
Classification: Non-Exempt, 12-month Work Calendar
Terms of Employment: Non exempt, Salary Range Level 2
Reports To: Director of Food Services
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee is responsible for planning and accomplishing a daily routine of custodial tasks that provide school personnel, students, and the public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to work and eat. Responsibility areas include, but are not necessarily limited to routine inspection of facility for hazardous conditions, and maintaining adequate supply inventories. Employee performs related work as directed.
Principle Duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or equivalent required, Valid Arizona Driver’s license, and experience in custodial / food service or related work preferred.

Principle Duties
- Performs planning and coordination of daily custodial tasks. Ensures compliance with established regulatory standards concerning safe use and application of chemical supplies (OSHA).
- Transports USDA foods to school sites and puts USDA food deliveries away in freezer and storage areas.
- Plans and organizes custodial duties in kitchen/dining areas.
- Assists kitchen staff in deliveries, setting up for breakfast and lunch, tearing down after service, cleaning eating and serving areas.
- Collects and disposes of trash. Heavy cleaning of kitchen floor.
- Use of floor cleaning products and equipment.
- May perform minor maintenance and repairs, painting of serving area(s) and kitchen(s) at various sites during breaks and care of floors during school breaks.
- Assists in setting up and cleanup of banquets at site.
- General custodial and maintenance duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of cleaning and housekeeping principles and practices
- Knowledge of food service health and safety regulations
- Knowledge of basic repairs and maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of safe work practices
- Skill in performing cleaning activities
- Skill in floor cleaning machinery
- Skill in following written or verbal work orders
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees and students
- Skill in safe driving rules
