Responsibilities
- Ensure all residents establish care for medical treatment and medication management within 30 days after intake.
- Attend and document medical appointments as assigned for residents.
- Supervise medication dispensing and all MAT employees.
- Provide clinical advocacy for the residents at clinical meetings, including treatment team meetings, transition planning meetings with the residents, and psychiatrist evaluation meetings.
- Complete the wellbeing/medical support component of the resident’s initial individual master treatment plan and MTP reviews, documenting discussion of the plan with the resident, caseworker, and family as appropriate.
- Ensuring that all relevant organization policies, procedures, and practices meet regulatory, licensure, and accreditation standards concerning storage, dispensing, administration, and disposal of medications.
- Accurately prepare the monthly medication administration record for each resident by the 1st of each month and diligently monitor and update as required due to medication changes.
- Closely monitor supply of all residents’ medication to ensure adequate supply. Obtain refills from the pharmacy as necessary to prevent lapses in medications.
- Provide training to residents and staff on medications, medical issues and needs of residents, and common medical issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation including, but not limited to, written assessments, progress summaries, and shot records and input into individual treatment plans.
- Ensure all youth are discharged with medications or prescriptions for all current medications, any follow up appointments, and current contact information for the resident’s medical and dental providers.
- Attend monthly administrative team and staff meetings.
- Be available 24 hours a day/ 7days a week to meet the needs of the residents.
- Work cooperatively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve quality resident care.
- Responsible for completing the required minimum number of training hours per year (24 hours/full-time; 12 hours/part-time).
- Other duties as required by program needs.

- Collaborate with physicians and other clinical disciplines in treatment planning to meet resident needs in a timely manner. Efficiently manages and oversees the medication administration process.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the residents and their needs.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Identifies potential safety issues and takes measures to reduce risks and protect clients and staff.

This is a full time 40-hour per week salary position classified as exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Marie Detty Youth and Family Services is an at-will employer. Employment is by mutual consent of the company and employee and either may terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause or advance notice. This job is contingent upon funding; however, availability of funding is not a guarantee of continued employment, nor does it imply any specific terms of employment.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Must be 21 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a Diploma from school of nursing or equivalent is required. An LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)/RN (Registered Nurse) license active for the State of Oklahoma is required.
- Demonstrate strong writing, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and telephone.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
- Must be able to physically restrain residents if necessary (training is provided).
- Must pass FBI background investigation.
- Ability to communicate with and advocate on behalf of residents.
- Ability to maintain records and adhere to confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Adhere to all regulations concerning confidentiality, judgment, tact, and diplomacy in contacts with persons served, parents/guardians, case workers, and local government agencies.
- Ability to assess situations, identify potential safety issues, and independently initiate safe interventions.
- Must be able to attend mandatory trainings and monthly staff meetings as scheduled. The Nurse is required to participate in START training (within 90 days) and pass the written and physical skills test of Managing Aggressive Behavior (within 30 days) of employment. The Nurse is also required to become certified (within 90 days) in Medication Administration and CPR/First Aid.
