QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Must have the following current certifications: Lifeguard Certification, First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates, BSA) and Lifeguard Instructor certification mandatory. Minimum of two years’ professional working experience within Aquatics. Experience working with children and families preferred. Excellent customer service with an ability to engage members of all ages is a must. Must be able to establish and maintain supportive working relationships with team, the public, service groups, facility users, and community stakeholders. Prior experience working in a tribal setting preferred. Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability as well as a three-year motor vehicle report required. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Previous supervisory experience, including scheduling and staff training preferred. Additional certifications in Lifeguard Management certification, Swimming Lessons, WSI, Water fitness and CPO desirable or to obtain within 6 months of hire. Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days/evenings/weekend hours as programming required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs and supports every aspect of Wellness Services Aquatics operation and supports Wellness Services Operations.
- Builds Aquatics staffing schedule and is point of contact for the daily operational adjustments.
- Acts as the Manager on Duty (MOD) as scheduled/assigned, in the absence of the Manager.
- Assists in hiring process of new staff by participating in interview panel as requested, providing hiring recommendations.
- Supports Manager in documenting actions taken to address an employee performance deficiencies, behavior, and/or violation of policies and procedures.
- Provides feedback and input for 90- day/annual staff evaluations.
- Actively works alongside Aquatics staff, in support of operations and programming.
- Assists with projects.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of compliance related to HIPAA, confidentiality, and patient rights to support behavioral health integration of services into Wellness Services programming.
- Attends all mandatory In Services.
- Adheres to departmental and organizational protocols and procedures to ensure safety of members and staff.
- Assists Aquatics Manager in development and recommendations for policy & procedures.
- Maintains knowledge of trauma-informed care and teaches/coaches co-workers in trauma-informed approaches to youth programming and implementation by staff responses to behavior.
- Assists with administrative tasks such as, but not limited to, returning phone messages, maintaining records & reports, including chemical testing, equipment maintenance, incident reports, class participation and facility usage, in a thorough and timely manner.
- Assists Aquatics Manager with Grants and Finance Departments to ensure proper management and administration of grant funds, keeping Aquatic & Safety Manager abreast of programming/grant needs.
- Serves as the point of contact for community partners to organize and staff special swim times for tribal and community groups.
- Follows defined Rotation (15 minutes at each Guard station, with one rotation in Lifeguard office), when patrons are in the water or on deck, maintaining visual contact at all times.
- Keeps deck areas clear.
- Responds immediately in an emergency to prevent further or more serious situations.
- In the absence of a Manager, effectively deals with problems needing immediate attention.
- Ensures pool inspections are complete and adheres to department protocol. Sends all reports are to Aquatics Manager.
- Performs supervision and guarding assignments outside the Center during special events for Marimn Health.
- Ensures pool equipment is in safe, functional condition and reports concerns to CPO and Manager.
- Assists the Aquatics Manager in establishing and maintaining a written Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for the Aquatics area.
- Conducts regular EAP drills. Works cooperatively with the Safety Coordinator to make sure policies are uniform across the facility.
- Acts as facility safety champion and leads by example at all times.
- Actively monitors patron and staff safety.
- Ability to effectively interact with Aquatics Manager, CC/WC Operations Team, staff, and other Tribal Departments.
- Verbal, non-verbal and written communication is professional and appropriate.
- Excellent public relation skills.
- Ability to organize and present information to share within a meeting setting with stakeholders and community partners. Actively participates in Quality Improvement (QI) activities related to Aquatics Operation and is knowledgeable of QI activities related to the departmental goals and objectives.
- Takes lead on AQ inventory and addresses concerns or shortages with Aquatics Manager
- Consults with other departments regarding staff development/program development and collaborative service delivery both internal and external.
- Presents and prepares educational workshops for Aquatics Team.
- Supports Manager with Novatime corrections by ensuring staff utilize timeclock system and request corrections in adherence with Marimn Time & Attendance Policy and Procedure, coaching staff as needed in support to manager.
- Assists Aquatics Manager with daily programming recommendations.
- Responds to assignments in a timely manner and communicates with the supervisor when timelines cannot be met.
- Completes cleaning assignments; follows written procedures for any bodily fluid discharge.
- Performs daily chemical tests, troubleshoots chemical problems when needed, and adds briquettes when needed.
- Reports any ongoing problems to the CPO and Aquatics Manager immediately.
- Plans, organizes, and instructs classes for Marimn Health including Lifeguard training, CPR/First Aid/AED training, and babysitting classes, and ensures accuracy and fidelity of training program.
- Oversees and organizes Swim Lesson and other programs offered by Marimn Aquatics.
- Oversees and organizes in-house Lifeguard in services.
- Swims 500 yards weekly, when on the lifeguard schedule. Trains regularly to ensure all rescue techniques are proficient and can perform all rescues at the highest level possible.
- Follows Audit Protocol for Lifeguards.
- Other duties as assigned.
