QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant and/or completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program required. Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred. Current CPR/BLS certification required.
ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients and public.
- Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing and data entry.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understands specimen requirements, draw appropriate blood samples and begin initial processing of laboratory test requisition, recording waived test results in Fletcher Flora Laboratory Information System and filling out PAML requisition forms if needed.
- Ensures that all final patient reports reach the proper destination either by faxing or delivering to current file system for in house providers.
- Maintains an accurate log of all blood draws, including finger sticks, and tests performed.
- Replaces vacutainer tubes (EDTA, SST/Corvac, Heparin, Citrated, etc.), tourniquets, cotton balls, needles (regular, 23g Butterfly and 23 g Syringe), Coban (wrap for arm), pediatric purple, amber color microtainers, lancets, alcohol swabs and bandages.
- Wipes down draw chair and counter tops with Sani-Cloth HB daily.
- Empties RED medical waste containers BEFORE ¾ mark on the container.
- Performs CLIA waived laboratory testing to include rapid strep, urine dipstick, influenza, mono, pregnancy, ESR, Hgb-A1C, and IN RATIO system.
- Understand the quality control materials (internal and external positive and negative) and how, when, and where to record these results.
- Must be able to perform telephone operation and etiquette, show courtesy toward patients, family, professional interaction with clinic staff, supervisor and providers.
- Limits personal calls to emergency situations only.
- Personal calls received on personal cell phone must be completed outside of the work area and on break and meal periods.
- Interprets Provider orders below the laboratory template in NextGen and order labs in the template and laboratory module.
- Billing the correct cpt codes in the billing module when using the laboratory module and attaching the appropriate diagnosis code.
- Trains to scan CBCs onto the hematology analyzer, load and run chemistry specimens on the Dimenstion Xpand.
- Other duties as assigned.
