Job Description Summary :
The IT Project Manager under the general direction of the PMO Director is responsible for developing, closing and managing all aspects of his / her assigned projects. The incumbent integrates user needs, collaborates with technical specialists, makes assessments and implements project plans. Scope of the role includes working with a project team that may include physicians, clinic staff, and other staff. The incumbent manages IT projects and assists business operations Managers and Directors with systems selection, design, database building, training, testing, and activation and post activation activities. The IT Project Manager may also provide personnel oversight of a cross functional project team composed of IT, business operations and vendor staff.
Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions :
EDUCATION
A Bachelor's degree (preferred) in the areas of Nursing, Business Administration,
Information Systems, Organizational Development or Management Engineering
preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years experience in Information Technology in a health care environment
required. 2 years experience as a Project Manager, leading facilities or applications
implementation desired.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Calif Drivers Class C Required at hire
Certification from the Project Management Institute (CAPM or PMP) preferred
PREREQUISITE SKILLS
Ability to work both independently and in small teams assuming leadership role and
delegate particularly in teams where candidate has no direct supervisory
responsibility.

The protected health information a person in this position can access includes demographics, date of service, insurance / billing, medical record summary information, and all other information that may be contained in patient records. This position requires patient health information to perform the functions outlined as part of this position description.
VIII. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
A. ESSENTIAL (not modifiable)
1. Identifies scope of project and project deliverables, define issues and risks within the project, identify key staff involved in and impacted by the project, and identify internal and external customers
2. Conducts interviews and focus groups of stakeholders, internal and external customers to identify issues and collect ideas related to project
3. Observes, develops and documents key activities and work flows within a process to identify work flow issues, process issues, impact, feasibility, and application issues and potential process improvements
4. Develops memos, letters, and / or flyers to communicate the progress of all the projects
5. Assures smooth turnover of projects both at the initiation as well as the conclusion to users.
6. Collaborates with User Groups to maintain an ongoing understanding of business issues and needs.
7. Coordinates with and direct third party vendors.
8. Creates project organizational structure and team composition; facilitate communication between project team members on deliverables.
9. Monitors project schedule and budget; facilitate discussions on the assessment, documentation, and recommendations on business process flow to achieve project objectives.
10. Works with users to identify and assess organizational strategies and systems / applications that meet operational needs.
B. SECONDARY (modifiable)
1. Maintains PMI credentials and provides Project Management education and resources to the hospital
2. Participates in hospital wide committees and activities as appropriate and is a liaison to the education department.

IX. WORKING CONDITIONS :
A. GENERAL
Working conditions are generally those of an office environment, but include visits to other Hospital locations and occasional meetings off the Hospital campus. The length of a typical day is eight hours, but can vary depending on work load. There are frequent interruptions.
B. SPECIFIC
1. Work Pace
Work is fast paced and both self initiated and in response to activities in the projects. Volume of work is generally heavy, but will fluctuate depending on projects and deadlines. Many responsibilities need to be completed within certain time frames and all work needs to be timely.
2. Equipment Used
Telephone, answering machine, calculator, FAX, copy machine, printer, heavy use of computer and keyboard
3. Environmental Exposure
Majority of work is done indoors with brief outside exposure as traveling to and from appointments. Work space is well lit and air conditioned. Infrequent exposure to normal office chemicals white out, toner, etc.
X. PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
A. GENERAL
Position is primarily sedentary with walking and standing required. Frequent lifting and carrying of light loads and infrequent lifting and carrying of medium loads is required. Reaching at all levels is required. Coordination and agility to handle clerical duties required. Must have good vision, auditory ability, excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with others.

The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on the individual's skills, experience, internal / market equity factors, and qualifications. This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position. Furthermore, all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy. Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
