PET / CT Technologist

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist, responsible for performing all Nuclear Medicine patient care services. In addition, they ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive environment while working in conjunction with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, front office, and clinical staff.This role requires working in a clinical setting with the team in a collaborative workflow model.

Primary Responsibilities : The PET / CT Technologist operates computed tomography (CT) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET)

  • Prepare and transmit images to the radiologist for read and report results to providers
  • Retrieve and archive radiographic reports
  • Review (accuracy check) and complete provider orders
  • Perform detailed and accurate data collection during clinical intake of patients to include taking and recording vital signs and patient history
  • Assist patients as needed with walking, transfer, exam prep, etc.
  • Proper, concise, and complete EMR documentation and paper-based documentation for all assessments and procedures
  • Perform accurate PET / CT exam as ordered by the provider while practicing radiation safety precautions.
  • Reviews exam orders for scheduling and protocol accuracy
  • Ensures that information essential to daily operations is passed between the technologists, receptionists, radiologist on duty, and Lead / Managers
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and radiopharmaceuticals according to site-specific protocols and under the direction of the Radiologist
  • Assists patient on to examination table and adjusts positioning devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by Physician

Nuclear Medicine Technologist requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program and hold an active CNMT or ARRT(N) Certification
  • Documented training and experience in CT. ARRT registered (RT) and radiography (R) and / or computed tomography (CT) certified and / or NMTCB registered (CNMT)
  • Detailed knowledge of PET and CT equipment protocols
