This position is located at MCAS YUMA, AZ. Candidates selected for this position will serve as an ASSET PROTECTION ASSOCIATE.
Major Duties
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Maintains surveillance throughout designated activities, observing customers and employees, in an effort to prevent and detect dishonest acts. Detains anyone suspected of a dishonest act and escorts them to the Asset Protection Office. Prepares reports pertaining to security incidents, gathers facts and evidence, and maintains close liaison with law enforcement authorities. May be required to appear and testify in court or at hearings concerning security cases. Studies inventory losses and conducts inquiries as required, in high shortage areas. Reviews merchandise periodically to ensure proper pricing.
Monitors internal and external security systems to ensure they are working properly. Ensures video surveillance footage is retained as required per the governing policies.
Investigates matters relating to asset protection such as customer losses, illegal identification cards, unauthorized patron entry and reports of theft or vandalism against MCCS facilities. Investigates persons on returned check list. May accompany cash runs, verifying money received. Verifies money transferred for vending machines. Reviews closing cash register report, and preforms audits of change funds. May perform or assist Physical Security on alarm testing and documents results for review by supervisor. Drafts reports to document incidents that occur in or around MCCS activities involving patrons, guests, and employees.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A minimum of one year of experience that demonstrates skill in applying asset protection techniques and methods, to include good customer service skills, familiarity with electronic article surveillance (EAS) and electronic surveillance equipment, detection of known theft merchandise, and familiarity with exception-based reporting. Have good communication and analytical skills in the application of asset protection techniques and methods, and ability to determine necessary actions under various security situations. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. May perform work that poses physical demands beyond normal requirements.
FOR POSITIONS INVOLVING FIREARMS/AMMUNITION ONLY:
This is a "covered position" for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a "qualifying conviction" for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED. Ability to successfully obtain/maintain a Tier 3 background investigation.
