Summary

The water jet operator is responsible for the operation and set-up of a Jet Edge (water jet). A waterjet operator is responsible for operating waterjet cutting machines, which use high-pressure water streams to cut various materials with precision. Working hours are Monday through Thursday, 6am – 4:30pm

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

· Set up of Jet Edge

· Program reading and Data entry

· Interpret Blueprints

· Assist other departments as necessary

· Set up, operate, and monitor waterjet cutting machines, ensuring proper functionality and safety protocols.

· Prepare materials for cutting, including measuring, marking, and securing them on the cutting bed.

· Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality, making adjustments as necessary to maintain specifications.

· Repairs made after a malfunction occurred to restore equipment to operational status.

· Daily or weekly inspections of equipment to identify any potential issues early.

· Regular application of lubricants to reduce friction and wear in moving parts.

· Removing dirt and debris to maintain performance and prevent damage.

· Adjusting equipment to ensure accurate measurements and operations.

· Putting together and taking apart machinery components for repair or inspection.

· Shaping materials through cutting, drilling, or milling to create precision parts.

· Ensuring that fluid and air-powered systems operate efficiently.

· Inspecting and repairing electrical components and systems

· Identifying and resolving mechanical issues through diagnostic procedures.

· Implementing improvements or updates to enhance performance and efficiency.

· Perform routine maintenance on machines, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs as needed.

· Maintain accurate records of production, including materials used, time spent, and any issues encountered.

· Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

· Work closely with team members, including engineers and production staff, to optimize cutting processes and improve efficiency.

Skills and Knowledge requirements:

· High school or equivalent (Preferred but not required)

· Prior knowledge or experience is not needed but is a bonus. We are willing to train the right candidate.

· Auto Cad knowledge is a must

· Good communication skills: Spanish speaker is not mandatory, but it is a plus.

· Punctual, reliable and conscientious with strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

· The ability to multitask, prioritize and drive projects is a must.

· Works under minimal supervision; primary job functions require exercising independent judgment.

· Hands-on mechanical skills are a MUST.

· General knowledge of a computer

· Mechanical ability

· Basic program reading skills using MS Windows applications as well as downloading DXF files and Pronet nesting software is a plus

· Able to interpret blueprints or shop drawing and able to use measuring tools such as Micrometers/Calipers and depth gauges

· Become Forklift certified

· Fundamental understanding of M and G codes

Additional Functions:

  • Additional duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by management.
  • Occasionally overtime might be required.

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.34 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
