Salary Information : $25.44 - $36.35 / Hourly

Who We Are

Continental Maritime of San Diego, a Titan company, is a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy. Our skilled professionals have performed hundreds of ship repairs for the Navy and Military Sealift Command. CMSD does repair on all types of major surface vessels including CVN, CG, and DDG, and all types of amphibious ships including LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work also includes repairs and alterations to a wide range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability Systems.

Position Specifics

Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Driver to support our operations. The Driver is responsible for driving buses, flatbed and semi trucks, automobiles, forklifts to pick up and / or deliver passengers and materials to work sites. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to read street numbers, signs, maps, and follow bus schedule, and pass journeyman test.
Must have a good driving record and demonstrate driving and load handling skills.
Understands and complies with street and highway signs, following amps, adhering to state motor vehicle laws, using visual, spatial and depth perception, reasoning and making judgements.
Must have a Class A Driver License
US Citizenship is required
The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required
Must be able to work any shift

Physical Requirements

Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Shop, shipboard, warehouse, industrial environment

May be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding / burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Frequently moves throughout the shipyard

Frequently communicates with others in person and by phone to determine pickup and dropoff coordinates / timing. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Must be able to maintain and operate various types of vehicles (e.g. buses, flatbed and semi trucks, automobiles, forklifts) which includes the ability to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time and frequently positions self to conduct inspections and troubleshooting.

Must be able to ascend / descend stairs / ladders / ramps, aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.

Must be able to move heavy equipment and boxes, weighing up to 50 pounds.

May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams.

Education and Experience

Completion of high school or equivalent preferred.

Completion of a minimum 25-hour on-site training for drivers to obtain / maintain Class A driver's license, as required by the DMV.

Must be able to obtain California Class A or B license, medical certificate.

DMV License must include passenger and hazardous material endorsement.
