Job Summary: The Vice President of Engineering oversees the entire engineering aspect at Intrepid Powerboats, leading teams responsible for designing, developing, and implementing new boat designs while ensuring production meets quality standards, safety regulations, and cost targets, often acting as a key decision-maker in strategic planning and product development initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and execute long-term engineering strategies aligned with company goals, including new product development, technology advancements, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with senior management to set product roadmaps and market positioning for new boat models.
• Oversee the engineering budget and resource allocation.
  
  

Product Development:

• Lead engineering teams in the development of new boat designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
• Oversee the prototyping process, testing, and refinement of new boat designs.
• Manage the integration of new technologies and materials into boat designs.
  
  

Manufacturing Oversight:

• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth production of new boat designs, including quality control and process improvements.
• Identify and address manufacturing challenges related to design and production processes.
  
  

Team Management:

• Recruit, develop, and lead a team of engineers across various disciplines (electrical engineers, mechanical engineers).
• Foster a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers.
  
  

Technical Expertise:

• Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes impacting boat design and manufacturing.
• Possess in-depth knowledge of boat construction techniques, materials, and performance characteristics.
• Analyze engineering data and provide technical solutions to complex design challenges.
  
  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• Extensive experience in boat design and manufacturing engineering
• Proven leadership skills in managing engineering teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
• Understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards in the marine industry
