We are currently searching for qualified candidates to join our team as Senior Vice President, Accounting for our firm headquartered in Overland Park, KS. Responsibilities
- Provide technical and operational leadership to the accounting function
- Lead team in preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements for multiple locations and entities
- Work with the finance team in the preparation and review of budgets and analysis of financial performance for use in company decision-making
- Lead department in development and use of systems and processes to deliver continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, financial regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies
- Lead, mentor and develop accounting team personnel
- Implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
- Manage the financial reporting and accounting integration of M&A activity
- Work collaboratively across departmental functions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 15 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role
- CPA license required, advanced degree preferred
- Experience in public accounting or financial services is preferred
- Broker/Dealer experience and FINOP license preferred
- Experience with accounting system implementation
- Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Excel and other accounting software a plus (i.e. Oracle ERP)
- Exposure to working with external auditors
- Strong work ethic and understanding of the cyclical demands of the accounting professional
- Technical aptitude, organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to conceptualize and support big-picture concepts and goals of the organization
- Should be adaptable to changing needs in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Enthusiasm to develop the accounting department and see it grow, not afraid to stretch their skill sets and be challenged
- High attention to detail and the ability to effectively problem-solve
