Job Description
This has been an exciting season of worship at our church and we are seeing God move and our people respond to His presence in unprecedented ways each time we gather. The Worship Leader position at Mariners Church (Irvine) is for someone who has a passion for the Church and its people, whose love for Jesus is evident in their manner of living and has been walking out their calling to pastoral ministry in the area of worship leadership. This person is excited about building and furthering worship culture by raising up and equipping others. They are Spirit-led worshipers at their core who value God’s word. The Worship Leader is also a seasoned leader both on and off the stage. They are musically gifted and experienced.
Responsibilities
- Worship leader for weekend services in the Worship Center, other Irvine venues and gatherings as needed
- Lead worship for special events (Worship Nights, mid-week gatherings, etc) as needed
- Build ministry teams related to the weekend worship experience by recruiting, developing, and caring for volunteers.
- Serve the volunteer worship team by providing relational leadership, timely communication, and mentorship. Other responsibilities include weekly preparation (lyrics, chord charts, vocal and band part memorization), preparing weekly band/vocal notes, communicating service details, scheduling worship volunteers through Planning Center Online, leading rehearsals, and finalizing weekly setlists, as needed.
- Record with the team for Mariners Online services (approximately 8-10 worship sets are recorded over a 2 day period, 4-6 times a year)
- Join rotation for leading worship at storytime, all-staff meetings, Wednesday chapel gatherings, and other mid-week gatherings as needed
- Join songwriting sessions on occasion
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Lead Worship Pastor
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time worship ministry experience
- Experienced in recruiting and leading volunteer singers and musicians
- Pastoral heart and experience
