Job Description
In January of 2024 we launched a brand new service for Young Adults. Each week we have over 1800 Young Adults gathering on Thursday Night for our Young Adult service. Young Adults travel from all over Southern California to come be a part of what God is doing. God continues to bless our Young Adult Ministry at Mariners Church, and we can’t wait to see how He continues to transform this generation.
The Young Adults Ministry Pastor is responsible for leading and equipping young adults to grow in their faith, develop as leaders, and engage in meaningful community. This role includes overseeing volunteer teams, recruiting and onboarding new volunteers, and providing spiritual guidance through teaching and mentorship. This role reports to the Young Adults Pastor on the Young Adults Team. A full time position, the schedule generally includes weekend services on Thursdays and Sundays, meetings at our office in Irvine, and additional time during the week for a total of 50 hours.
Responsibilities
- Leadership Development: Identify, mentor, and equip young adults for leadership within the ministry and the broader church community. For example: We have a monthly Spiritual Leadership Cohort where we equip over 80 young adults to live out the calling God has placed on their life.
- Volunteer Leadership Oversight: Recruit, develop, and care for volunteer teams alongside our Young Adults Team, ensuring they are well-equipped to serve effectively. While we may have different teams (4 total teams with over 100 serving each week), we are a unified team with a unified purpose to serve our Young Adults. This position would work with the Young Adults staff to guide people to next steps even within ministry teams.
- Community Building: Foster an engaging and welcoming environment where young adults can take their next steps within the Transformational Loop.
- Teaching & Discipleship: Provide biblical teaching, facilitate group discussions, and offer spiritual guidance as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with church leadership and other ministry teams to align young adult initiatives with the overall vision of the church. Thursday Night is a weekend service which means we work closely with our Senior Pastor and our Irvine Lead Pastor as this role is part of the Irvine Congregation.
