Performs the full spectrum of nuclear medicine procedures following hospital policies and protocol ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Provide quality patient care ensuring service excellence as evidenced by patient satisfaction scores and testimonials. EDUCATION
Graduate of accredited school of nuclear medicine technology
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year’s experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Must be able to perform all diagnostic studies and procedures performed in the Nuclear Medicine departments of MarinHealth
PREREQUISITE SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Ability to perform all studies and procedures provided in the Nuclear Medicine Department according to applicable standards and protocol, ensuring patient safety
Demonstrated knowledge in all protocols for the handling and disposal of radioactive materials
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and posses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in hospital and/or departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills essential to ensure service excellence in patient care and intra- and interdepartmental relationships
Demonstrated ability to document clearly and correctly to ensure accurate patient records and other required documentation of work performed
Demonstrated knowledge of decontamination procedures to the extent that incumbent can responded appropriately and effectively in the event of a radiation accident
Demonstrated experience in implementing and following radiation safety procedures
LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
Current licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in California (CNMT)
Current Certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assures delivery of safe, high quality Nuclear Medicine services by:
Assessing patient status and identifying patient care requirements relative to the patient’s age-specific needs and then providing the care needed
Performing all nuclear medicine procedures within established procedures and protocols, and with a demonstrated high level of technical expertise
Resolving equipment, supply and patient relations’ problems to ensure clinically sound treatment and patient satisfaction
Participating in staff, departmental, safety, infection and haz-mat control in-services and meetings
Documenting all diagnostic studies or other patient procedures and other relevant information per department and hospital policy/procedure and professionally established protocols
Maintaining required patient records, reports, statistics, files and documents required for effective operation
Performing all nuclear medicine procedures according to hospital policy, procedures and established protocol with a consistently high level of technical expertise
Preparing and administering radioisotope doses according to hospital policies, procedures and generally accepted protocols
Operating all nuclear medicine equipment according to established procedures
Separating isotopes for decay prior to disposal
Monitoring spent isotopes for decay prior to disposal
Drawing blood samples as ordered
Preparing and labeling images for diagnostic interpretation
Maintaining radiopharmaceutical supplies
Maintaining requests for radiopharmaceutical formulations
Maintaining knowledge of new and emerging nuclear medicine methodologies and applying them appropriately
Calibrating equipment, preparing, measuring and administering radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of a physician
Performing physician requested diagnostic studies using the scintillation camera to produce images of organ on photographic film/digital file per hospital procedures and protocol
Assures compliance with regulatory and safety standards by:
Ensuring compliance with DHS, The Joint Commission, licensing, and other applicable standards
Implementing new requirements/regulations (federal, state, local) pertaining to nuclear medicine services
Performing required surveys and quality control of areas and equipment per federal, state and local regulations
Participating in Radiation Safety Committee meetings
Implementing and maintaining radiation safety procedures and following Radioactive Hazard Protocol
Following safety procedures, operating equipment and performing job related duties in a safe manner with a focus on accident prevention
Following accepted guidelines for receiving, storing and disposing of radioactive waste
Completing prescribed decontamination procedures and area monitoring when a radiation accident occurs
Informing the Manager of Imaging Services of any questionable equipment malfunction so that appropriate repairs can be scheduled
Taking all appropriate measures to comply with HIPAA and other patient confidentiality/privacy requirements
Assures continuous quality improvement and service excellence by:
Participating in the development of quality control and improvement programs
Following established quality control and improvement programs
Submitting quality review and control reports and analysis within prescribed timeframes
Demonstrating commitment to total quality management through knowledge of its precepts, workplace applications, and continuous organizational improvement
Engaging in regular assessment of quality and making quality improvement recommendations
Assures smooth intra- and interdepartmental operations by:
Performing all technical tasks in a courteous and respectful manner toward patients, co-workers, other hospital staff, and members of the community who utilize our services and facilities
Identifying and engaging in conduct that contributes to and supports team effectiveness
Performing all tasks in a manner consistent with the hospital’s vision of technical competence, accurate care and service excellence

The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on the individual’s skills, experience, internal/market equity factors, and qualifications. This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position. Furthermore, all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy. Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
