Marion City Schools is seeking a dedicated Substitute Nurse to join our team! This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on student health and well-being. The Substitute School Nurse is responsible for providing temporary healthcare services to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. This role requires a high level of professionalism, compassion, and adherence to medical protocols.The working hours are aligned with the assigned school schedule on an as needed basis.

Job Description Overview
Title: Substitute Nurse/Health Consultant
Reports To: Designated Administrator
Department: Substitute
Classification: Substitute
Qualifications:
- Current Ohio RN or LPN License or other legal credential required. Degree(s) required in the area of major study.
- Prior job experience is beneficial. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- The ability to travel between buildings. The ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Contract Length: As needed
General Responsibilities:
As a substitute nurse in our school setting, you will:
- Health Reporting: Observe and report students' health status upon arrival at the clinic during the school day and before dismissal.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications to students in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- First Aid: Provide immediate first aid treatment for injuries and illnesses.
- Communicate with Parents and Staff: Maintain effective communication with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student health concerns. When necessary, call guardians for sick or injured students to be picked up.
- Maintain Records: Accurately document all health-related incidents and treatments.
- Follow School Policies: Adhere to school policies and procedures related to health services.
Key Duties Include:
- Providing health counseling and facilitating communication between students, parents, and staff.
- Implementing health management protocols for students with special health needs.
- Participating in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Supporting wellness programs and ensuring sanitary conditions in schools.
Expectations:

- Maintain professionalism, good judgment, and positive interactions with students and staff.
- Promote good public relations and adhere to all established policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Assist with personal care tasks, including changing diapers, feeding, and toileting, for
- students who require assistance.
