What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Marion County Housing Authority?
We have maintenance shops in both Centralia and Salem. And, we have residential communities located in Centralia, Salem, Sandoval, Odin, Patoka, Alma and Kinmundy. A company vehicle will be provided for driving to and from work sites.
Below is our position description. It will give you a good idea of the types of tasks your day may be filled with as a maintenance technician as well as our expectation for the skills we would want you to already know or be ready to learn.
- Complete work orders and repair requests in a timely manner. Monitor incoming work orders and track current work orders on an employer provided iPhone
- Report any observed problems in a unit/property to the housing manager.
- Responsible for maintaining a quality of work as established by the Authority and the Authority’s Maintenance Plan and policies.
- Perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs. Perform carpentry, dry wall, plastering/tile and masonry work.
- Make repairs and clean equipment such as refrigerators, stoves, etc.
- Make necessary repairs to units as needed.
- Perform repairs on windows and screening.
- Complete periodic inspections of buildings and grounds. Performs ground keeping duties as needed.
- Move furniture, supplies and/or equipment for personnel and/or departments to set up for meetings or relocation of MCHA property, including abandoned property.
- Clean and paint vacated units as required.
- Work overtime on rotating “on-call” schedule as needed.
- Strictly adhere to safety policies and procedures to prevent injury and maintain a safe work and living environment.
- Must be able to demonstrate record of consistent work attendance
- Must be able to use electronic devices such as a smartphone and basic apps
- Must be able to take direction and complete tasks with little supervision
- Good communication skills both written and orally, knowledge of common hand tools, and prioritizing cooperation and teamwork are great skills to have for this position. High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Basic knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems, and painting are strongly desired. HVAC and EPA experience preferred. Physical strength and ability to do manual labor including moving and lifting heavy objects (usually 50-75 pounds) required. Drug free workplace and Equal Opportunity Employer.
