What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personnel Generalist position at Marion County Indiana Sheriff's Office?
Performs a variety of diverse office support functions under limited supervision to facilitate office operations and the employment application process.Greets applicants/other visitors, answers phone inquiries from applicants, agency personnel, and the
general public.
Provides/receives information requiring judgement regarding work unit practices. Screens,
sorts, opens mail. Verifies employment.
Receives/processes applicant information/application through appropriate steps.
Administers appropriate tests to applicants. Ensures compliance of applicant with job criteria and qualifications set by Agencies.
Creates & maintains accurate app/dept files.
Reviews all applications to be sure that application is complete, types reports, statistical data & appropriate correspondence to applicants as necessary.
Gathers and compiles information for statistical reports. Updates LTD files and prepares monthly report of county employees on Long Term Disability.
Maintains job listings and composes the listings for each job that is posted.
Receives unemployment claims. Copies and sends notice
Monitors office supplies and application forms. Orders supplies as needed.
Creates forms and handouts for use in the Human Resources Office.
Confers with Administrator to discuss work processes, plans or actions to be taken; Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of job.
Performs other duties as assigned.Requires a high school diploma and three years of secretarial experience. Must have experience dealing with the public on the phone and in person and composing and typing correspondence. Previous experience using a personal computer/word processing programs (Microsoft Office) is preferred.
Civilian Employees shall have her/his principal place of residence within the boundaries of Marion County within six months of employment.Must be able to work independently under limited supervision
