Position Summary: The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office seeks attorneys dedicated to public service, public safety, and fairness and justice for all who come into contact with the criminal and delinquency justice system. Deputy Prosecutors carry a diverse caseload and appear on behalf of the State of Indiana in all Marion County Criminal and Juvenile Court proceedings.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Represent the State of Indiana in all stages of delinquency prosecution of misdemeanor and major felony matters in the Juvenile Courts, including but not limited to screening and waiver hearings.
- Mentor and train attorneys, including trial preparation, strategy, and case resolution, helping prepare court slates, on cases ranging from misdemeanor to major felony.
- Ensure attorneys and staff comply with discovery obligations and correct issues where appropriate.
- Observe Deputy Prosecutors on the team while in trial and provide feedback.
- Ensure courts are adequately staffed, including depositions, hearings, and covering court when short-staffed.
- Follow the Marion County Prosecutor’s personnel policies, particularly with regard to confidentiality
- Attend trainings and meetings, as directed.

Job Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Required:
- J.D. Degree from an accredited law school and a member of good standing of the Indiana Bar.
- Understand applicable rules, laws, and guidelines, including the Indiana Rules of Criminal Procedure, Indiana Rules of Trial Procedure, Rules of Professional Conduct, and the Victims’ Bill of Rights.
- Prior work experience in juvenile law and court hearings is required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to public service.
- Ability to manage a highly demanding workload.
- Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
