This is a responsible position which requires some independent judgment, good multi-tasking, and organizational skills. Duties include receiving, processing, and distributing inmate records. Receiving, preparing, and distributing inmate transport dockets. Maintaining inmate record files.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
A. Abide by the "Law Enforcement Code of Ethics."B. Thoroughly know, understand, and comply with Agency procedures, rules and regulations, Florida State Statutes, the Florida Model Jail Standards and accreditation standards relating to this position.C. Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of the inmate records stored within the Classification Unit.D. Receive and process file folders from booking deputies, ensure all arrest and booking paperwork is complete and accurate, and ensure data entry into the Jail Management System is accurate.E. Review all arrest affidavits received, process for distribution; prepare case registers and other required judicial documents.F. Retrieve and process transport request from the Clerk’s Office, Judges and attorneys used to prepare court transport dockets for inmates leaving the facility for required court hearings.G. Conduct court clerk duties during first appearance through the week and on the weekends and assist the Duty Judge and attorneys during court proceeding.H. Enter court dispositions into the Jail Management System and process the inmate classification files for release in an expedient manner.I. Run a full criminal history on all incoming inmates as directed. Prepare and distribute copies required for judicial hearings.J. Review inmates’ files to ensure DNA is collected per FSS 943.325.K. Answer telephone calls and provide bonding information to the general public, Law Enforcement and Bail Bonding Agencies as needed.L. Provide security of the teletype by ensuring only those personnel authorized to use it, have access.M. Confirm and pull warrants for local Law Enforcement personnel after hours and on weekends.N. Confirm active warrants via the teletype for other jurisdictions after hours and on weekends.O. Monitor the In Court computer after hours and on weekends/holidays. Process or distribute documents to proper destination.P. Monitor ICE emails after hours and on weekends/holidays for pick up arrangements or detainer cancellations.Q. Transport court paperwork for First Appearance to the courthouse in the morning and retrieve the paperwork from the courthouse at the completion of First Appearance.R. Complete DMV forms when sent over by Visitation.S. Enter and remove warrants from FCIC/NCIC and RMS after hours and on weekends/holidays.T. Enter temporary emergency injunctions into FCIC after hours and on weekends/holidays and send injunction to the Communication Center.U. Maintain filing.V. Obtain inmate signatures from their housing location for First Appearance paperwork.W. Attend training as required.X. Ensure all office equipment is in good working condition and report any discrepancies to the Classification Supervisor.Y. Perform any additional duties that may be outlined in the Unit’s internal manual.Z. Be alert for conditions or situations which inhibit the efficient operation of the Agency or the Classification Unit, making recommendations for solutions.AA. Perform other related duties, as assigned, including modified schedule or temporary re-assignment during declared emergency or activations, as determined by the Sheriff.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside an adult detention facility. May be subjected to or within hearing of verbal abuse. Possibility of physical abuse is remote but present. Will be in proximity of inmates during the performance of duties. Required to work shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays. May be required to work overtime when necessary. May be called out during emergencies.ADA: PHYSICAL AND DEXTERITY REQUIREMENTS: Most tasks require the ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time. The ability to life, carry, push or pull items up to 10 lbs., the ability to stand and to walk for short periods of time and the ability to bend and to kneel.ENVIORNMENTAL HAZARDS: The job risks exposure to bright/dim light, temperature variations and odors.SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception and texture perception.The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
