Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Rate of Pay: $15.93 per hour full benefits

MAJOR FUNCTION
This position performs specialized technical work associated with contractors' licenses and building permits. This is a professional customer service position providing excellent customer service skills while assisting the citizens and contractors regarding Florida building codes and permit requirements. This position is responsible for reviewing and processing permit applications, collecting permit related fees owed and issuing permits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the work load.
- Provide face-to-face, telephonic and on line customer assistance about permit requirements, permitting processes, fees and timelines.
- Assists contractors and the general public in obtaining building permits and contractors' licenses; ensures compliance with established permitting codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Processes applications and performs data entry for permits and licensing.
- Notify customers about application deficiencies and corrective actions required. Receive and review corrected documentation; update system records.
- Calculate and review fees owed to ensure accuracy for all county imposed charges; collect fees owed and issue receipts. Perform daily Audit for monies collected.
- Assist in other areas of the department as directed by the supervisor or other lead staff.
- Required to report to work at the appointed hours, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned schedule.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
- Performs other duties as assigned.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
This is a front-line position for providing excellent customer service to members of the general public and other County employees. Personal contact occurs with other employees of the unit, employees of other departments in the County, consultants, contractors, administrators, public officials, citizens, and customers/clients of the department. Service is provided in person and by phone contact.
SUPERVISION
This position does not supervise employees.

Machines and Equipment
This employee will be required to operate a computer, calculator, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, and other general office equipment in the completion of the tasks of the position.
