Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to plan, organize and direct the maintenance, repair and alteration of city buildings and grounds; serve as the city representative in planning and developing facilities and new construction; ensure projects are completed efficiently, within regulatory guidelines and projected deadlines.
This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs with organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
Essential Functions
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Supervise, direct and evaluate assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Inspects new construction, repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently.
- Direct projects (e.g. site repairs/construction, preventive maintenance, etc.), establish project schedules, design and budget.
- Coordinates schedules and special event operations for the purpose of ensuring required facilities preparation.
- Develops long and short-range maintenance plans/programs for the purpose of ensuring that county resources are effectively utilized.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training in facility management equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college or vocational school.
- Requires two years of experience in maintenance operations, management with specialized training in plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Physical Demands:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
- Involves routine and frequent exposure to: right/dim light; dusts and pollen; extreme heat and/or cold; wet or humid conditions; extreme noise levels, animals/wildlife; vibration; fumes and/or noxious odors; traffic; moving machinery; electrical shock; heights.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Requires OSHA Certification

Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
