What are the responsibilities and job description for the 911 Dispatcher position at Marion-Crittenden County E-911?
Job Overview
Operate multi-line phone system, answer 911 emergency calls as well as administrative line calls and dispatch calls to appropriate units.
Duties
- Utilize telephone, radio and computer systems simultaneously to respond to emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Ask callers appropriate questions and gather information quickly while logging accurate information into the Computer Aided Dispatch system
- Utilize GIS, GPS, and other tools to assist in efficient dispatching
- Dispatch the correct response agencies to calls for service depending on jurisdiction and type of incident
- Maintain accurate records of calls and dispatch information
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have high school diploma or GED
-Ability to type at least 35 words per minute
- Must possess strong verbal/written skills
- Must be able to multitask in a high stress environment
Applicants are subject to a background investigation, suitability screening test, polygraph, drug test and to successfully complete a 4 week training course at the Deptartment of Criminal Justice Training/Eastern KY
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.55 - $16.48 per hour
