What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Camp Counselor position at Marion Family YMCA?

Counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of children in their assigned group and all children in camp. Weekly responsibilities include designing and implementing a variety of age-appropriate activities for children including group games, arts & crafts, hobbies, gardening, sports, and more. Staff training will help prepare you to be a great camp counselor, to have fun, and to make a difference in a child’s life.
POSITION INFORMATION:
- Y Camp runs June 2 - Aug 08 , 6:30 am-6:00 pm at the YMCA / YMCA Camp at GW runs June 2 – June 26, 12:00 pm-4:00 pm.
- Counselors will work 18-38hrs per week and may vary week to week.
- Staff Training in late May; participation in training is required.
- The Y operates multiple camp sites and each counselor may rotate between sites.

Incumbent must be able to move freely and quickly throughout the camp area; move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces; participate in typical children's games; watch and listen to the activities of a group of children; communicate effectively with people; bend and lift; and lift up to 25 pounds.
