Job Summary
This position is responsible for the delivery of various customer facing services within the revenue cycle. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, scheduling, registration, insurance verification, prior-authorizations, financial counseling / individual solutions, cashiering and customer service.
Position adheres to departmental productivity, quality, and service standards in support of operational goals.
Scheduling responsibilities include answering and making calls for scheduling, rescheduling, pending, and canceling patient appointments as required.
This position will answer patient's questions regarding basic medical tests and procedures and providing instructions to patients to ensure they are prepared for examinations and procedures.
Financial Clearance responsibilities include making outbound calls confirming patient appointments, ensuring demographics are reviewed and correct and ensuring price estimation is completed and communicated in a timely manner.
Explain financial requirements and obligations to patients and enter payments into the HIM system. Ensure prior authorization is secured from the payer and verification of insurance details.
Informing patients of non-covered charges as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Two (2) years accumulated experience in a clerical or healthcare related position.
- CPR certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Post high school education.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience in a medical work environment.
- Working knowledge of medical insurance plans.

- Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, providers and other hospital personnel on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
- Ability to negotiate effective working relationships and develop positive resolution to conflict.
- Excellent time management, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions
