Job Summary

This position performs a variety of dynamic PET/CT and CT examinations. Follows established protocols for gathering the desired history and other imaging studies. Administers therapeutic doses under the direct guidance of the radiologist and radiation safety officer. Accurately prepares exam room and tray set up for procedures. Produces high quality diagnostic scans. Communicates well with other staff as well as physician offices to insure accuracy in order information and creates an atmosphere of teamwork. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Licensed by the State of Indiana and registered with an ARRT (CT), ARRT (N),  NMTCB or NMTCB  (CT), AND
  • If ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) registered must have completed an accredited training program in nuclear medicine that must include training in the basic medical sciences as they apply to nuclear medicine technology and practical experience in performing nuclear procedures AND must obtain AART (N) or  NMTCB registry within two years of hire.
  • If ARRT (N) or  NMTCB registered will need to obtain ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) within two years of hire.
  • CPR certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Registered by the ARRT (CT) and ARRT (N) or  NMTCB and  NMTCB (CT).

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administration, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies.
  • Presents a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
  • Developed computer skills and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
  • Excellent customer service skills with special emphasis on patient centered care. 
  • Analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.

Working Conditions

  • Typical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking. 
  • Work may be subject to interruptions. 
  • Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards. 
  • Works with protected health information. 
  • Ability to work any shift, occasional extended hours, holidays and/or weekends based on the needs of the department.

Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment

  • Standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling to provide patient care and to utilize patient care devices necessary to perform duties in a safe manner. 
  • Uses computer and other standard office equipment. 
  • Uses patient care tools and equipment as they relate to area of clinical specialty.
