What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Production Team Lead position at Marion Independent School District?
Reports to: Food Service Director
Basic Function:
To assist the Director and/or Manager in performing any necessary daily tasks within the Marion Independent District Food Service Program
Essential Functions:
Performance of these functions is the reason the job exists.
1.Assist in the preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning up of both breakfast and lunch meals.
2. Assist in preparing the special diet meals.
3.Operating the food service point of sale system,Observe and ensure students are properly charged and attain the ability to recognize a USDA reimbursable meal.
4. Maintain confidentiality in the national school lunch program.
5. Assist in required daily record keeping.
6. Assist in leading and training of part time staff, ensuring they are completing assigned tasks in a efficient manor while observing proper food safety regulations.
7.Attend training and pass the exam to obtain Serve Safe Protection Certification.
8. Help to maintain the standards of health and safety with staff and students.
9. Unload and put away multiple weekly food trucks into the Dry Storage, Walk-in Cooler, and Walk-in Freezer.
10. Must have the physical ability to do repetitive and extensive lifting of 40 lbs or more on a daily basis.
11.Must have the physical ability to stand for the duration of the scheduled shift without sitting.
12. Fill in and lead the kitchen staff when the Manager is absent.
13. This position requires the individual to be trained as a Substitute for all district food service employees,excluding the food service director.
This individual may be temporarily placed at any Kitchen within the district as deemed necessary by Food Service Director.
14. Must attend the required number of training hours each year to meet the requuirement of Professional Standards set by the state.
15. Dress in appropriate attire as required by the Director.
16. Demonstrate organization and professionalism in your responsibilities.
17. Maintain a positive rapport with all staff, students, parents and community.
18. Be flexible to perform any necessary daily tasks within the Marion Independent School Food Service Department as assigned by the Director or Manager on a daily basis.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma.
- Mandatory Reporter: Child and Adult Dependent Abuse certification
- Background Check
- Valid Drivers License

The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp items. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment can vary based on activities taking place. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the cafeteria including retrieving items near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising lunchroom activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work in kitchens/coolers/gyms where temperatures can fluctuate due to seasonal changes.
