Position Title: Summer/Temporary General Labor Position
Wage: $14.00/ Hour

Immediate Supervisor: Department Director/Crew Leader

Summary:
Perform general maintenance, upkeep, cleaning or painting needed to maintain or improve the condition of District buildings, grounds and/or equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)
  • Basic Preparation needed for painting (washing walls, repairing holes, removing old paint
  • Able to Match and Apply paint with the necessary equipment (paint brush, etc.)
  • Exercise knowledge of proper safety techniques (including but not limited to: wearing proper personal protective equipment, handling of materials, lifting techniques, use of all equipment and climbing apparatus)
  • Cleans up area and equipment every day (at the end of the day)
  • Ensure quality work through effective monitoring of current project
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials and manipulating things. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must perform physical activities that require squatting, stooping or kneeling, climbing, lifting, balancing, and reaching above the head and forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools while climbing on a ladder. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and waist more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. Occasionally, the employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 – 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. The employee will sometimes push/pull items. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors. They may occasionally be subjected to extreme temperatures or climate conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee may work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays and cleaning materials. They may work in semi-enclosed areas that require the use of protective equipment. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
