What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Safety Officer position at Marion School District?
Summary: A Campus Safety Officer is generally, but not always, assigned to a school building to provide safety and security to the students, teachers and staff of the assigned building. A Campus Safety Officer may be assigned to different school buildings/property on a daily basis depending on the needs of the district.
Education/Licensure/Experience: Must be able to comply with all Arkansas CSSO standards.
Essential Functions:
Language
Good expressive and receptive English language skills to be able to communicate with and be understood by students, co-workers and parents, receive their responses and respond to them appropriately.
Sensory
Ability to track and observe students in a 360-degree classroom, gym or cafeteria environment to ensure compliance and safety.
Able to visually or otherwise access written and printed content, and respond verbally and in writing.
The ability to understand and respond to the verbal expressions of others, often in a noisy environment with multiple speakers and background noise, or outside.
Movement
Ability to move around inside on hard surface and industrial carpeted surfaces, and to travel at a brisk, walking pace relatively long inside distances, without needing to stop or rest.
Able to move around outside, sometimes on a grassy or uneven outdoor surface, to supervise students outdoors.
Able to work outdoors, for sustained time periods, sometimes during very hot or very cold weather conditions. (If applicable: Must be able to perform sustained CPR with the subject on the floor.)
Cognitive
Able to conform behavior to that which is socially accepted as being appropriate to an adult and positive role model who is working with young and impressionable children.
Ability to receive complex oral and written instructions and execute them appropriately.
Good executive functioning skills sufficient to ensure timely and accurate compliance with detailed federal, state and local record keeping requirements.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
Attendance
Ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work during the contract year.
Other Duties:
Evaluate and advise administration regarding the student safety and campus security based on current best practices.
Respond to emergencies.
Fulfill the performance standards identified in the evaluation process.
Fulfill the essential functions listed above.
Fulfill other related duties as assigned.
