Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, and teaching hospitals. The ideal candidate will have experience in hospital medicine and emergency medicine, particularly in environments such as Level I and Level II Trauma Centers. This role is vital in ensuring patients receive the highest quality of care while promoting their comfort and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients during their recovery process.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Help with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health management strategies and resources available.
- Support patients during transitions between different levels of care, including outpatient follow-ups.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with PICU, outpatient, inpatient care, hospital medicine, and emergency medicine is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of procedures in teaching hospitals or trauma centers is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work compassionately under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by healthcare regulations.
- Certification in CPR or First Aid may be required based on facility policies.
