Position Summary
The Quality Lead role consists of two main focus areas:
- Quality Management System (QMS):
- Maintenance and upgrades of the ISO9001:2015-compliant QMS.
- Manage and perform Internal Audits and reviews of the QMS.
- Lead efforts to determine which programs require QMS implementation, and assist program teams in the implementation of the QMS on those programs
- Coordinate QMS reviews with customers and represent MAPC in discussions with customers and prospective customers.
- Corporate Product Quality:
- Lead efforts to evaluate vendor quality and performance.
- Lead efforts to improve the quality for all items produced, whether a full QMS implementation is required or not.
- Customers Quality: Represent MAPC in discussions with customers related to Quality.
- Performs company quality activities independently with high skill and efficiency including (but not limited to):
- Generation of Quality procedures, and maintenance of these procedures, Internal Audits, Vendor Audits, Maintenance of employee competency records, Providing of quality training to employees as necessary, Lead of maintenance and calibration efforts of inspection tools, Direction of personnel performing receipt inspections, Lead personnel in the review of drawings, POs, and customer orders, to ensure compliance with all quality requirements, Monitoring of vendors for quality and performance, Monitoring of CPARs for progress and effectiveness, and managing all SCARs
- Generate and maintain an intimate knowledge of all company quality processes and procedures
- Interface with customers on quality issues or situations including audits
- Review proposals, bids, and Purchase Orders, and contracts received to ensure that quality requirements are understood and considered.
- Proactively lead the company to improve quality in all delivered products while maximizing efficiency and minimizing cost and schedule impacts.
- Lead the development materials and the presenting of training to personnel at all levels of interaction with the quality program, and work to set company expectations and best practices for the Quality programs at MAPC.
- Perform root cause analysis of issues when needed.
- Quality process implementation knowledge and experience including setting company policy, standards, and implementing the same on a daily basis.
- Highly organized personality
- Strong leadership skills that impact quality performance across all levels of a company
- At least 5 years of quality program experience with a history of position growth
- Knowledge of DoD quality processes if possible but willing to learn.
- A willingness to straddle quality responsibilities that range from formal Quality-critical DoD fabrication efforts to commercial R&D work that has no stated quality requirements.
- Flexibility in applying processes consistent with the needs of the project, and an appreciation of the financial and schedule impacts of additional processes.
- Ability to garner the trust of senior management through regular reporting of both good and bad news.
- Ability to hold the respect of one’s coworkers while implementing quality standards that inevitably impose work burdens on those same coworkers.
- Proficient in MS Office products
