Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to provide strategic leadership and operational management of the nursing department.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, and programs that enhance the delivery of resident-centered care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements, actively participating in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, orientation, and ongoing professional development of nursing staff.
- Monitor and evaluate resident care practices, including medication administration, treatments, and documentation, to ensure adherence to best practices and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for residents, promoting their well-being and safety.
- Provide guidance and support to nursing staff, including registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs), to maintain a positive work environment and high-quality care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, providing input and collaborating with other departments to optimize resident care and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to resident care, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, advancements in nursing practices, and regulatory changes, implementing best practices within the nursing department.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in the state of New York; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a nursing leadership role, preferably in a nursing home or long-term care setting.
- Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of nursing practices, regulations, and standards of care.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and empower a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and other healthcare technologies.
- Dedication to continuous professional development and staying abreast of industry advancements.
