The Vacancy
We’re currently looking for Welder/Fabricator Container Repairer at our East Midlands Gateway rail terminal.
Responsible for the support of Maintaining Container Cleaning / Repairs within the Terminal, work alongside Maritime Operations to facilitate the tasks ahead and required in the rail terminal. Through the use of the terminal operating system in a safe and control manner.

- Responsible to carry out pre check of all equipment and materials with to comply with safety processes
- To carry out day-to-day activities of yard operatives role to maximize the efficiency of the terminal Scheduled activities.
- To Clean or repair all damages dedicated to the particular containers within the required skills
- Maintain full control yard cleanliness around working area and site assist with other general tasks when required such as housekeeping or 5s activities.
- Operator required to utilise MHE equipment when required. Long term training will be provided.
- To accept operational direction by the Terminal Manager / Shift Supervisor whilst on shift.
- Supporting general engineering works to include fitting of patches, insulation, and door hardware. Weatherproof seals, drains and ventilation with qualified training.
- Support site maintenance of various tasks as advised.
- To maintain the cleanliness of the whole working area and site and general labour duties as required or advised by Line Manager
- Logging all assets / containers for work completed for inputting.
- A fundamental understanding of Health and Safety principles including plant operation / mandatory vehicle pre-use checks.
- Self-motivated, flexible approach to work, disciplined and organised.
- Outgoing and willing to work outside in all conditions.
- Ability to report any issues to either Site, Facilities or others departments for awareness.
- Basic I.T skills desirable for PC work.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills to be able to highlight issues in good time to Managers.
- Ability to work on own and achieve planned target times/ KPIs in order to stop customer penalties.
