Mark Thomas is hiring a Roadway Design Engineer to our transportation team in Sacramento or Roseville! The Roadway Design Engineer II performs multiple assigned tasks that contribute to the completion of one or more projects with a greater degree of experience and independence than more junior engineers. The Design Engineer II may provide direction, guidance and review of work performed by more junior engineers, technicians, and interns. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides engineering design calculations & documents, memos, and project reports (Ex. -grading, quantity take offs, procedures or manual cost estimating, designs) that meet the requirements of the client and follow Mark Thomas' standard / Quality Control (QC) practices & procedures, as well as details for all work
- Independently prepares content for technical reports and / or supporting attachments, calculations, or other pertinent details
- Provides quality content for plans, specifications & estimates (PS&E) packages with timely delivery and within budget constraints with minimal direction
- Provides direction, guidance, and preliminary review of the work performed by entry-level engineers, technicians, and interns
- Updates Project Managers or Supervisors regarding status of projects and progress of work products on a regular basis
- Participates in presentations for internal or external audiences on technical or project-related topics / issues
- Attends and actively participates in professional organization activities
- Provides support during construction phase, exhibiting an understanding of construction methodologies, techniques and associated working space
- Conveys technical information utilizing clear verbal and written skills
- Develops working relationships with outside contacts such as utilities, regulatory agencies, and sub-consultants as directed by supervisor
- Assists in the preparation of proposal packages and exhibits
- Demonstrates a dedication to the organization and industry through participation in learning and development activities

The base annual compensation range for this position is $83,000 - $118,500. The offered rate of compensation (California locations only) is based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
