About Markarian:
Alexandra O'Neill founded luxury womenswear label Markarian in 2017. Named after a particularly radiant grouping of galaxies, Markarian combines Alexandra’s love of celestial romanticism with timeless design and modern grace. Each special, romantic, and ethereal piece is thoughtfully made-to-order in an effort to reduce waste. Designed and produced in New York City, Markarian has a strong belief in supporting the fine craftsmanship that the New York Garment Center offers.
Location:
This is an in-person role based at Markarian's production office in the Garment District of New York City. This internship is for school credit and/or experience.
Responsibilities:
- Quality control of garments to ensure highest standards are met.
- Assist in maintaining office functionality and organization.
- Aid in organizing and managing fabric inventory.
- Support sourcing efforts for fabric and trim.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of production fabric/trim books.
- Assist in conducting sample fittings to ensure proper fit and design alignment.
Requirements:
- Prior fashion experience preferred.
- Availability for 2 days a week commitment.
- Familiarity with the Garment District and its resources.
- Ability to take initiative, multi-task and pay attention to detail.
- Proficiency in hand sewing techniques.
- Knowledge of garment construction techniques.
- Fluency in Mandarin or Korean is a bonus.
