This position will be responsible for the resolution of claims of average complexity and low to mid exposure claims. The primary purpose of this job is to investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle assigned claims by collecting and analyzing data according to policy application and/or contract provisions. The position will have responsibility for decision making within their authority and work under the general direction from their manager.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations and internal Claims Quality Performance Objectives
- Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions
- Attend all state specific trainings as scheduled
- Conducts, coordinates and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages
- Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
- Directs and monitors assignments to experts and outside counsel
- Evaluate, Negotiate and settle claim when appropriate
- Evaluates information on coverage compensability, and medical management to determine the extent of insured's exposure
- Participates in special projects or assists other team members as requested
- Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information
- sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to manager
- Travel to mediations, trials and conference as required.
What we're looking for:
Education
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus
Certification
- Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license within 45 days of employment
- Successful completion of basic insurance courses or achievement of industry designation is a plus (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU)
Work Experience
- Minimum of two to five years of claims handling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of insurance industry or claims handling preferred
- Successful completion of two years as an Associate Claims Examiner preferred.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word)

Pay information:
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position is $60,300 to $100,500 with a 12% bonus potential.
