Job Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer IV to join our team at Markem-Imaje. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and products.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement electrical designs and solutions.
- Perform analysis, design, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and products.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure product/system performance objectives are met.
- Timely resolution of product/system issues that affect MI's internal and external Customers.
- Responsible for all phases of product development including specification, design, component selection, implementation, verification, and validation.
- Principle responsibility/ownership in the development of new electronic circuits or systems.
- Proficient in the use of computer-assisted engineering and design software/equipment such as ECAD to perform assignments.
- Recommend complex components, architectural systems, and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
- Determine, plan, and execute design approaches and parameters through research, assimilation, and application of new technology.
- Remain current with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Principal responsibility/ownership towards the continuous improvement efforts within the R&D community.
- Perform, guide, or lead complex electrical design functions associated with new product development.
- Collaborate with and direct other engineers/peers in the acquisition, analysis, and verification of electrical performance to specification through simulation and measurement.
- Ensure successful completion of the assigned project/task within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
- Participate in key account relationships involving requirements definitions, special applications/designs, and validation through field testing.
- Work closely with local business/technical centers, sales, and service representatives in order to generate revenue generation opportunities.
- Identify new and/or work with existing suppliers and subcontractors on specifications, designs, schedules, etc. in the support of projects and production equipment.
- Coordinate key account relationships involving requirements definitions, special applications/designs, and validation through field testing.
- Actively participates in the annual business planning sessions related to Electrical R&D.
- Travel and/or interfacing with Customers, Business Centers is expected and encouraged.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a related field or a Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of experience.
- On-going, advanced coursework in Electrical/Electronic Engineering required.
- Demonstrated ability to design and enter schematics (Altium a plus) and a superior knowledge and experience of digital, embedded CPU and analog circuits.
- FPGA and/or C programming skills a plus.
- The candidate should be able to develop their assignments will minimal direction as well as functional as part of a cross-functional and international product development team.
- Mentoring and leadership of less experienced personnel in an agile environment.
- Expertise in more than one of the following is required: system design, analog and digital circuit design, solid state power electronics and power conversion, microprocessor and digital signal processor, software, local area networks, wireless communications, data logging, and electromechanical devices.
Skill Requirements:
- Complex analog and digital design capability that includes expertise with low- and high-density integrated circuits, microprocessors/microcontrollers, motor controllers, display drivers, communication drivers, input/output devices, power supply circuits/conditioning, wiring diagrams, and cable management.
- Experience with architectural design/manufacturing that includes VHDL, FPGA, CPLD, BGA, and SMT.
- Expertise with PCB design, testing, analysis, and validation required.
- Expertise with EMI/EMC design, testing techniques, and Agency certification practices required.
- Programming knowledge of C is preferred.
- Expert use of test equipment/apparatus, computer-assisted engineering and design software, circuit board processes, etc.
- Proficient knowledge of common software programs, including Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated aptitude in Engineering Excellence: FMEA, DFT, DFM, Root Cause Analysis, Design of Experiments, etc.
