Job Summary:
The Assistant Dietary Aide works with and helps the Dietary Aide and the Cook for approximately two and one-half (3 ½ ) hours each day. She/he assists during the serving of the evening meal, pours coffee, washes trays and pots and pans, clears the dining room as needed, runs the dishwasher, cleans the dish-washing area, empties garbage and performs general cleanup. At the end of the shift, he/she is responsible to make sure everything is properly secure for the night, and locked up.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to help assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the resident.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the Department.
- Assure that safety regulations are followed at all times.
- Assist with serving meals as necessary, and on a timely basis.
- Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.
- Assure that established Infection Control Policies and Procedures are followed.
- Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established Policies & Procedures.
- Attend and participate in all required in-services.
- Report all accidents/incidents as established by Department policies.
- Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
- Clean work areas, tables and counter tops, etc.
- Wash and clean utensils, pots and pans, and all dishes and return each to the proper storage area.
- Perform dishwashing, cleaning procedures of carts, dining rooms, etc.
- Empty garbage cans and take bags to the dumpster.
- Check to make sure the ovens, burners, fans and lights are all turned off.
- Lock all doors.
- Assist residents with eating in the dining room as needed after completing proper procedure training.
- Performs all other duties as requested by the Food Service Manager.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 15 ½ years old and able to read, write and speak the English language.
- Must show evidence of being in good physical and mental health.
- Must be able to deal with the residents, staff and the public tactfully.
- Must be able to relate to and work comfortably with the elderly.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, squat and reach above your head.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
