FABRICATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Street Factory Media is hiring for a qualified candidate to lead our metal fabrication sub-department as our Metal Shop Supervisor. In this role, the candidate will manage a small team of metal fabricators as well as the inventory, vendors, tools and space. Qualified candidates will be comfortable and familiar with custom metal fabrication techniques and possess the ability to train staff on best practices and safety. Maintenance and organization of the tools and space also falls under this position.
As a Lead Fabricator, this role is also responsible for building unique custom dimensional props and media under the direction of and in collaboration with our internal team of Fabrication Engineers and Director of Fabrication. Our team is currently looking for a skilled custom metal fabricator who can also seamlessly transition into support of general fabrication, assembly, carpentry, and packing through the application of cross-disciplinary skills while meeting timeline expectations and quality control expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and Train Supporting Metal Fabrication Staff
- Expand Current Capabilities and Practices
- Read And Execute Cut Lists Accurately
- Rapidly Produce Precision Cuts Through Aluminum And Steel Tube
- Rapidly Drill Precision Holes Accurately, According To Plan Specifications
- Label All Parts Accurately, According To Plan
- Support Mig Welding Aluminum And Steel Through High-Production Times
- Follow And Meet Production Timelines
- Adapt Quickly To The Demands Of Challenging And Unusual Projects
- Read Blueprints / Shop Drawings
- Packing, Transportation, And Installation Of Finished Props
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BFA in a design or a trade license/certificate (or 2 years of experience working in a custom fabrication shop)
- Follow Written and Verbal Directions Well
- Proven track record demonstrating the ability to meet deadlines in high stress situations
- Demonstrated self-starter
- Elevated attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Aware of relevant health and safety procedures related to working with tools and chemicals
- Physical demands: Ability to stand for long periods of time, ability to lift 50 lbs safely
- A positive attitude is a must.

TERMS

- Hourly pay rate will be based on qualifications
- This is a local position, so candidates should be based in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
