Job Summary: The Cutter is responsible for operating the stamp machine to cut swatches to specific sizes based on customer specifications. This position requires precision in setting up the machine, positioning the guide, and ensuring all cuts are made accurately. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in production.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up the stamp machine by positioning the guide to the specific cut size required for each swatch order, following customer specifications.
- Inspect cut swatches to ensure they meet size, shape, and quality requirements. Reject any swatches that do not meet the specified criteria and report issues as needed.
- Cleans and operates equipment, maintains a production area free from debris and dirt, and readies or puts away tools as assigned.
- Closely follows directions to operate machinery, hold or supply materials and tools, and load or unload items on machinery and assembly lines.
- Assembles, packs, loads, and unloads material and parts as needed.
- Reports any issues to supervisor or higher-level employee.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Basic understanding of how to set up and operate cutting or stamping machines.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, handle materials, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to identify and resolve any issues related to the cutting process, including machine malfunctions or discrepancies in swatch sizes.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize the tact and diplomacy required to foster a team environment while keeping projects on schedule and budget.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Supervision Received:
Works with minimal supervision. Issues and concerns need to be communicated to supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Previous swatching experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting: Occasionally raises objects from a lower to a higher position or moves objects horizontally from position-to position. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Occasionally uses upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Reaching: Extends hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward at the waist. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Standing: Standing for moderate levels of time. Infrequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. In frequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
