Job Summary: Alliance Printing is seeking a skilled and dependable Emmeci Machine Operator to join our team in Dalton, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating the Emmeci machine to produce turned-edge binders and boards. The position requires expertise in machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient production of high-quality products. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate the Emmeci machine to produce turned-edge binders and boards, ensuring that machine settings and production materials are correctly configured for each job.
- Select, place, and secure the appropriate tools for each production run. Ensure tools are correctly installed and functioning to produce high-quality products.
- Place and secure workpieces in the Emmeci machine, ensuring correct alignment for accurate production and minimal defects.
- Prepare fixtures and feeding devices for the machine, ensuring proper configuration to ensure smooth material handling throughout the production process.
- Start the machine, engage the feed, and continuously monitor machine performance to verify the quality of the turned-edge binders and boards being produced. Adjust as necessary to ensure high-quality results.
- Verify that all measuring instruments, such as gauges and calipers, are in proper working order. Ensure machines are calibrated and adjusted according to production specifications.
- Set and adjust necessary machine controls to regulate performance, including speed, temperature, and pressure, ensuring products meet established quality standards.
- Identify and resolve minor issues with machine performance during the production run. Troubleshoot mechanical or operational problems to minimize downtime.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of machines.
- Strong mechanical and technical skills to set up, operate, and adjust machinery. Ability to use measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and other precision tools.
- Ability to understand production goals and accomplish those goals.
- Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations such as fixtures, machine speeds, or feed rates.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize the tact and diplomacy required to foster a team environment while keeping projects on schedule and budget.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Supervision Received:
Works with minimal supervision. Issues and concerns need to be communicated to supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Prior experience operating Emmeci or similar machinery in a manufacturing, printing, or packaging environment is preferred. Knowledge of the production of turned-edge binders and boards is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting: Occasionally raises objects from a lower to a higher position or moves objects horizontally from position-to position. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Occasionally uses upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Reaching: Extends hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward at the waist. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Standing: Standing for moderate levels of time. Infrequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. In frequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
