Job Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for efficiently and accurately managing the shipping and receiving operations. This role involves handling goods, verifying inventory, operating forklifts, and using computer systems to process shipments. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, experience in warehouse operations, and proficiency in inventory control software.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Accurately ship and receive items using the processes required of the company's systems.
- Efficiently pick, package, and prepare goods for shipment in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy.
- Cross-check items with packing slips and verify the correctness of inventory during both receiving and shipping processes.
- Maintain accurate records of items shipped and received, ensuring proper documentation is in place for all transactions.
- Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse lifting equipment to move and handle inventory.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Computer operation – Operation of inventory control software, ERP/ MRP, printing labels, word processing, spreadsheets, generate reports and ability to effectively communicate via email.
- Experience using FedEx system or use of comparable system.
- Prior experience in filling out domestic/international shipping papers (bill of lading, international commercial invoices)
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
- Strong project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize the tact and diplomacy required to foster a team environment while keeping projects on schedule and budget.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Supervision Received:
Works with minimal supervision. Issues and concerns need to be communicated to supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Previous shipping and receiving experience required.
- Lift truck experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting: Occasionally raises objects from a lower to a higher position or moves objects horizontally from position-to position. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Occasionally uses upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Reaching: Extends hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward at the waist. Weight is usually less than 50 lbs.
- Standing: Standing for moderate levels of time. Infrequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. In frequently more than 30 minutes at a time.
Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
