JOB SUMMARY
The Bindery Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the overall performance of the Bindery and Lettershop operations, overseeing the activities of the staff, support personnel and hourly union workers while ensuring that the products meet all quality standards, cost targets and customer required lead times. The Bindery Supervisor reports to the Bindery Manager all activities, including initiating and/or implementing programs involving new product introductions, quality improvements, cost reductions and operational changes.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Manager to prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments to the hourly staff.
- Act as a technical resource to the bindery department personnel and other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems related to assigned functions
- Analyses department procedures regarding quality, cost effectiveness, accuracy, efficiency, and productivity.
- Communicates effectively with other departments to plan and direct work activities and resources to ensure production is within quality, quantity, and cost specifications.
- Effectively communicates production expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion.
- Establishes production goals for the department(s).
- Monitors and documents performance against production standards.
- Maintains plant equipment to provide a clean and safe working environment.
- Implements training and process improvement actions.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the production team.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation, and presentations.
- Proactively manage changes in production scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of production.
- Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum required experience is 7 years direct work experience in a relevant management capacity,
- Vocational/Technical/Business school or equivalent work experience. Some college preferred.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Adept at conducting research into production-related issues and products.
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
