Deli Associate

Position Summary
Assists in maintaining and operating the deli department by preparing and packaging products, stocking and rotating merchandise ensuring cleanliness, quality and high level service to the customer.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

· Promote outstanding customer service with all guests and associates, greeting all customers with a smile, offering assistance, thanking customers for shopping at our store and inviting them to come back.

· Project a professional personal image with impeccable hygiene and wearing a clean, neat assigned uniform, with a clearly visible nametag.

· Properly uses equipment to fry, mix, slice, bake and otherwise cook hot foods, prepare and package deli products, special orders and other items as needed and assigned for the scheduled shift.

· Accurately and efficiently weight, package and label products.

· Maintains food safety and sanitization procedures throughout shift, following all rules and guidelines set forth by the company and to follow all state laws and regulations regarding food safety.

· Works with Department Manager to identify, suggest and support items to promote and build sales.

· Properly replenishes shelves, cases and displays within the department. Assists with unloading stock, ensures top level rotation, builds displays, monitors expiration dates.

· Observes and verifies signage on product making sure that shelf tags are accurate, signage is correct and timely and labels are placed appropriately.

· Cooperates with Department Manager and other associates to control department expenses.

· Observes all loss prevention strategies, handling spoiled or damaged products properly, reducing waste and monitoring for theft.

· Actively supports the department, other departments and store leadership by following all company policies and procedures and providing assistance and support where needed.

Education/Work Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

1 year previous food experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills Abilities
Excellent communication skills

Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.

Proficiency in basic math

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Continuous walking, standing, lifting, bending. Some repetitive motion. Frequent use of hands to handle products. This position is subject to a typical retail store environment with regular exposure to refrigerated and frozen coolers as well as occasional hot working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
